Regional Adviser for Communication and Information
Michel Kenmoe has been working for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for several years. Before joining the Regional Office for West Africa Sahel (Senegal) as Adviser and Head for Communication and Information, he was stationed in Gabon, providing support to many countries in Central Africa on media, freedom of expression and knowledge society.
For more than 14 years, he has spearheaded score projects in the media sector, led policy researches and advocacy actions on freedom of expression, access to information, and inclusive knowledge societies. For the recent years he has been very active in promoting and coordinating several UNESCO's initiatives such as the integration and use of Open Educational Resources in Sahel, or the assessment of Internet Universality Indicators (IUI).
His has been instrumental in the development and adoption of a national OER strategy in Burkina Faso, the capacity building of scores Higher Education lecturers and professors on OER development, as well as the elaboration of an action plan for OER integration in Sahel.
Mr. Kenmoe holds a Certificate in Distance Education (GA, US), a BSc in Information systems management (GA, US), a Master of science in Internet System Development (Portsmouth, UK) and a Master of arts in Communication, Media and PR (Leicester, UK). He is also a PhD candidate in Communication at University of South Africa (SA).
